'YOGA IN EDUCATION'
TEEN YOGA FOUNDATION TRAINED AND PGCE QUALIFIED; A SPECIALIST IN OFFERING BESPOKE YOGA CLASSES, COURSES AND WORKSHOPS FOR SCHOOLS, COLLEGES AND IN COMMUNITY SETTINGS.
“I felt calm and relaxed when I was doing yoga. When doing the breathing and relaxation I felt as though my worries and problems were disappearing. I felt really safe and it helped that I had a lovely teacher to motivate me to do more.”
Grace, age 11. Worthing, Sussex.
“Our course requires students to engage with others often in challenging settings, yoga has played an important part in giving them space to process their experiences in a focused environment. Yoga with Josie has enhanced our students’ ability to self manage their emotions and well being.”
Emma Balaam, Director of Community Arts, The BRIT School.
After training with the Teen Yoga Foundation I prioritised the time and space to conjoin my wealth of experience teaching in secondary education with that of guiding people through mindful yoga classes, workshops and one to one sessions. These YOGA IN EDUCATION workshops are designed to support student well being and development. Classes are made fully accessible and are adapted creatively to suit the needs of your young people. So why should school students be introduced to the practice of yoga?
Practising learning to be in the present moment and finding focus.
Connecting strength, balance and flexibility in body with that in the mind.
Gaining simple and affective ways to access meditation techniques.
Engaging in a physical activity which has no assessment, grades, competition or expectation.
Building awareness of themselves, and tools to observe their thoughts, moods and emotion.
Investigating more into the idea of acceptance, compassion and understanding, starting with themselves and then for others also.
Finding some down time and a sense of calm in their hectic daily schedules.

“Young adults complete their schooling with the sufficient training for obtaining employment, but often lack the skills crucial for maintenance of their mental health and wellbeing….. Increasing mind-body awareness leads to positive behaviours.”
